Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was today briefed by the members of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) on the agenda of the upcoming Oceania Summit that will convene in Suva in July. Present at the meeting was the Speaker of Parliament Dr. Jiko Luveni, Climate Champion and Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development and NDMO Hon. Inia Seruiratu, former President of Kiribati His Excellency Mr. Anote Tong and members of the Universal Peace Federation (UFP). The A-G commended the committee for organising this event and says that the theme “Addressing Critical Challenges of Our time: Independence, Mutual Prosperity and Universal Values” augurs well with Fiji’s Presidency of COP23. The Fijian Government is organising the program together with the Universal Peace Federation (UFP) in collaboration with the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAAP). The summit will be held on July 21-23 and topics discussed at the summit will range from interfaith peacebuilding, service programs for youths, peace initiatives, conflict resolution and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
