FIJIFIRST Leader, Voreqe Bainimarama opened new Fiji Rice mill in Dreketi today.

Our Leader said the opening of the new Mill is further proof of Fiji Rice’s continued commitment to serve the rice farmers here in the North and customers all over Fiji.

FijiFirst has created the ideal conditions for industries such as these to thrive.

“The investment in the new Mill comes with several benefits to farmers, the community and the company itself.” “This new rice mill, worth approximately half a million dollars, will supplement the existing mill.”

Fiji Rice Limited or the successor to Rewa Rice Limited, has come a long way since its establishment in 1966.

Following the deregulation of the Rice Industry in the late 1980s, operations of Fiji Rice and other local rice millers suffered greatly due to competition from imported rice.

Only through the hard work put in by the FijiFirst Government has this industry be able to rise again from the ashes.
