Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum officiated at the issuance of registered land leases to 68 families of Omkar Settlement at Narere, Nasinu tonight.

The AG said the 99-year land leases were assets for the families that they could use as collateral to get access to finance from banks.

He said they were now the legal title holders of the lots at Omkar, and this is something that no one can take away from them.

The AG said the families could also take advantage of Government’s First Home Buyers initiative to build better, stronger homes.

He also called on the families to adhere to the land lease agreement, and use the land to build a better future for their children.

The AG said 20 more families will also be given their land leases at Omkar Settlement in the near future.

Government had issued registered leases to about 200 families in the Western Division last week.
