Government continues to reach the interior of the rural community after the commissioning of two Solar Home Systems Electrification projects worth close to $180,000 in Namara and Nukulau village in Ra Province today.

Villagers of the upper hills of Ra were overjoyed when Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Honorable Vijay Nath officially opened the two projects. These two projects are fully funded by government where Namara village solar home systems electrification project is worth $112,000 and Nukulau village project is worth $64,000.

“This Solar Home Systems Electrification projects are part of this government’s vision for everyone to enjoy same services and infrastructure, because it is our belief that every Fijian is entitled to the same quality of life regardless of where in our islands they call home,” Hon. Nath said.
He added that it is now not an option but an imperative to put in place infrastructure that will ensure the future of our children.

“More importantly it means that rural villages will be using a cleaner and environmentally friendly source of electricity that will help slow down climate change and reduce its effects,”

Total of 44 families in the two villages are now being provided safe and stable energy supply.
