Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport, Hon. Parveen Kumar Bala handed over four new street vacuum cleaner trucks to municipal councils in an event held in Lautoka today.

The first four trucks were today handed over to Suva City, Lautoka City and Nadi town Councils.

The Introduction of the street vacuum cleaner trucks will not be limited to these Councils as more machines will be brought in for other Councils as well.

The Investment by Government says Minister Bala is a way forward in advancing our Towns and Cities operations by having the right machines.

These machines have four features.
1. Sweeper
2. Vacuum Dust
3. Sprayer and
4 Reduce the dust.

Councils will also be able use the trucks to water gardens which has 9,000 litre capacity tank.

“The machines can attend to fire cases as
well, provided we have the trained staff as well,” he said.

“In fact, we have redoubled our effort, to stimulate innovate ideas in our towns and cities to ensure that we maintain and enhance the beauty of our urban environment.”
