Minister for Agriculture Hon. Inia Seruiratu today opened the Agriculture Statistics for Policy Workshops for the upcoming 2019
Agriculture Census.

Organised by the Ministry with the assistance from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the workshop aims to significantly increase the availability and quality of Agricultural and Rural Statistics that is produced by a sustainable agricultural statistical system with appropriate
institutional, human and financial capacity.

During this workshop participants will be shown the results of the CAPI [Computer Assisted interview] trial that was conducted in Naitasiri Province.

The Interview process used the World Bank Software – Survey Solution as the platform to capture and process data.

“This process, is step in the right direction for us in our attempt to improve our Agriculture and Rural Statistics System,” Minister Seruiratu said.

The Workshop concludes on Friday.
