137 newly recruited Police officers were part of the pass-out parade held at the Nasova Police grounds this afternoon.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama reminded the officers to serve with dignity and to be good role models.

“As members of the Fiji Police Force, your jobs will not be easy. As any veteran of this Force can tell you, you will face many long days and nights throughout your careers serving this nation,” PM Bainimarama said.

“You will face danger. You will find yourselves between innocent Fijians and great threats to their safety. And in those moments you must put aside concern for your own well-being and protect those who cannot protect themselves – as that is what you have been called to do.”

Prime Minister Bainimarama reiterated to the new recruits that Fijians deserve and expect better services from them.

“As new officers, it is your duty to be part of that effort. Your commitment to justice must extend beyond combating crime on the streets; you must also root out any within the Force who abuse their positions for their own gain.”

Amongst the 137 police officers, five officers from Tuvalu and five from Nauru were also part of the six months recruitment phase.

Members of the diplomatic corp, senior government officials also attended the event.
