PRIME MINISTER Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama today commissioned a rural electrification project in Nadi’s rural Vunarewa Community bringing years of relying on diesel generators and lamps to an end.

The Fijian Head of Government in commissioning the project which will assist nineteen (19) homes said through small in size, projects that empower the country’s communities make positive impact on the lives of Fijians.

“When we invest in development, like this electrification project, we bring Fiji and the Fijian people close to realising our tremendous potential as a nation,” he told the community.

“Of course, we have the big projects – the roads, bridges, jetties, and even the new airport here in Nadi – but it’s these small projects as well that make a real difference in the lives of our people and every step we take, no matter how small, is part of our great journey forward as a nation.”

The commissioning of the project marks a number of projects around the country which the Prime Minister officiated in providing the much needed leg-up for Fijians in rural communities allowing them the first step towards better living.
